Amy Taubin (born September 10, 1938) is an American author and film critic whose influence stretches across several decades of cinema discourse. After completing her undergraduate studies at Sarah Lawrence College, she earned an MA from New York University, laying a scholarly foundation that would inform her prolific writing and curatorial work. As a contributing editor for the prestigious British magazine Sight & Sound and the American periodical Film Comment, Taubin has shaped critical conversations about both classic and contemporary film, while her regular columns for the SoHo Weekly News, The Village Voice, The Millennium Film Journal, and Artforum have cemented her reputation as a versatile and incisive voice.
