Australian small‑town cop Gary leads a quiet life, his biggest excitement coming from traffic tickets, while daydreaming about reporter Julia, who wants to move to Sydney. The town is shaken when a motorcyclist, a construction worker, a sailor and a cowboy‑Indian are found decapitated by a killer obsessed with the Village People. With city detective Tony Charles, Gary learns the murderer intends to claim a police officer as the final victim.

Gary, [Gary Eck], and Akmal, [Akmal Saleh], are two constables in a rural village who lead fairly unremarkable lives. Gary’s main aim is to be crowned the village line-dancing champion, having always finished as the runner-up. A series of horrific murders, involving the mutilation of bodies, rocks the town, and Detective Tony Charles, [Anthony Mir], a detective from the city, is reluctantly brought in to handle the case. While Akmal is in awe of the dashing investigator, Tony’s aggressive methods clash with the uptight Gary, under the watch of Chief Carter, [Richard Carter], the officer in charge of the station. Tony is eventually sent back to the city after shooting a French male stripper.
Back in the village, Gary and Akmal soon discover that the murders have a Village People theme, with the victims having been in one of the occupations of a Village Person, or resembling one. They fearfully deduce that either a policeman or a dentist will be next to die, as does Tony, who rushes back from the city.
Akmal struggles with his memories of the Village People, uncertain whether he recalls the right details, while Gary quickly concludes the killer is a policeman. The investigation unfolds against the quiet rhythms of village life, with Chief Carter’s Wife, [Justine Seymour], watching the drama from the sidelines as the duo wrestle with fear, suspicion, and the weight of the town’s expectations. The tension between Tony’s bold style and Gary’s cautious, by-the-book approach creates a tense, often comic, dynamic that keeps the community on edge as the case deepens.
As the body count climbs and the clues grow darker, the two constables realize that the threat is closer and more personal than anyone anticipated. The “Village People” motif tightens the sense of paranoia, forcing everyone to confront the possibility that the next victim could be someone who wears a badge or works with teeth, even as Tony returns with renewed purpose to push the investigation forward. In a world where appearances can be misleading, the bond between these unlikely partners—and their struggle to reconcile different styles of policing—becomes the quiet, stubborn heartbeat of the story.
