Tokiko, a renowned ceramic artist, and her husband take in Haruka, a teenage runaway, offering shelter and a chance to learn the craft. After the husband’s death, Haruka vows to stay and support her teacher, and the two grow closer in a relationship that blends mentorship with affection. Yet Tokiko’s world is haunted by loneliness, and she turns to alcohol, engaging in a series of casual affairs with different men while Haruka can hear the echoes of these encounters from a separate room, underscoring the emotional distance between them.

Tokiko then invites Satoru, a bright young student, to become her apprentice and begins a relationship with him, even though he tells her he has a girlfriend. Satoru becomes drawn to Haruka, who is roughly his age, and he flirts with her in a way that unsettles the fragile balance at the studio. When Tokiko discovers the budding connection, she confronts them with anger, accusing Haruka of disliking men and pushing the situation into a charged confrontation that tests loyalties and boundaries.

The tension escalates when Akane, Satoru’s girlfriend, learns of the tension and intervenes, grabbing a kitchen knife during a confrontation. Six months pass, and Haruka unexpectedly returns to the studio, where the two women confront the past and navigate a renewed but complicated closeness.
