Vajont (2002): Cast & Box Office

In 1959 the massive Vajont dam, intended to be Europe’s largest, is under construction in the valley that bears its name. Work began in the late 1950s under engineer Carlo Semenza but faces ongoing setbacks. Deputy Biadène ignores the mountain’s instability, focusing on local opposition. Communist journalist Tina Merlin of L'Unita leads the resistance. The dam is completed and the reservoir filled, yet the fragile geology makes disaster inevitable.
