Vinay Rai Karthik walks away, visibly unsettled, and heads to the office of his girlfriend, Sadha Jhansi, where she harshly critiques his flirty habit with other women and his lack of passion for their relationship. The couple’s tension erupts, and Jhansi walks off, ending their romance in a quiet, painful moment.

Karthik is later introduced as a Chennai-based civil engineer who still carries a mischievous, lively spark. His life takes a turn when his manager asks him to embark on a six-month business trip to Melbourne. He says goodbye to his friends, Raju Sundaram and Sathish Krishnan, before boarding the plane. On the flight, he meets a bubbly, flirtatious woman named Deepika, played by Tanishaa Mukerji. They quickly strike up a friendship, sharing stories and numbers as the hours pass. Coincidentally, Deepika is bound for Melbourne to work in the same city and in a company that Jhansi has already made her home. The two keep running into each other, turning what could have been a simple trip into a series of playful, unexpected reunions that bring Jhansi back into Karthik’s orbit.

Meanwhile, Deepika warms to Karthik, which only deepens Jhansi’s distance from him, even as Karthik clings to faint hopes of reconciliation. A casual dinner moment becomes more tangled when Karthik encounters a fellow Tamilian named Srinath Vaidyanathan at a restaurant, who learns of Karthik’s lingering affection for Jhansi and offers a pragmatic, if blunt, perspective about moving on.

The narrative then shifts two years into the past, revealing how Karthik first met Jhansi during a temple festival. Jhansi plays a prank on him and his friends, and Karthik, smitten from the start, begins to follow her with the hope she will fall in love with him. Jhansi grows increasingly suspicious of his intentions. The situation intensifies when Karthik pretends to be the boyfriend of Raju’s girlfriend Pooja, [Paloma Rao], causing Jhansi to misread the situation and doubt his sincerity. The tension peaks again at a wedding, where the bride, Lekha Washington, accepts a kiss from Karthik after he improvises a song, further complicating Jhansi’s trust in him.

Their on-off dynamic takes a sharper turn when Jhansi enlists her friend, Vasundhara Kashyap, undercover to flirt with Karthik. He lies, claiming he was at home ill, and Jhansi ends the relationship on this miscommunication. After the flashback, Vaidyanathan counsels Karthik to focus on moving forward rather than clinging to regrets, and Karthik slowly begins to disengage from his attachment to Jhansi. Yet when Jhansi learns of Deepika’s growing affection for Karthik, jealousy reappears and she rekindles her own feelings for him. As she observes the ease and understanding between Deepika and Karthik, she starts to understand what went wrong in their relationship.

In a moment of honesty, Karthik articulates his lasting love for Jhansi, not for Deepika, and for a time, it seems a reconciliation could be within reach. But then Jhansi makes a difficult choice and leaves for Sydney, retreating from the drama and seeking a fresh start. The film closes with the interviewer from the opening sequence approaching Jhansi, asking about her decision to depart anonymously. She initially resists answering, then reveals that though she still loves Karthik, she could not truly understand him and chose to protect him from further hurt. She discloses that she recently learned Deepika is now married to Karthik and they have a child, a revelation that reshapes her sense of closure. With a final breath of resolve, she walks away, insisting that her future is hers to shape—and she is content with herself as she is now.
