Ulajh falls short of delivering a compelling spy thriller, with the majority of critics and viewers highlighting fundamental flaws across its components. Direction and pacing are perceived as uneven, while performances are marred by underdeveloped supporting roles. The plot is described as predictable and riddled with gaps, limiting engagement. Consequently, the film offers little incentive for repeat viewings, resulting in a low overall appeal.
The Movie Echo Score Breakdown for Ulajh
Art & Craft
In terms of direction and visual execution, reviewers note a lack of confidence that forces excessive exposition, resulting in a stagnant rhythm. Cinematographic choices receive little commendation, and editing appears to reinforce the film’s sluggish momentum. Overall, the art and craft elements are judged as underwhelming.
Character & Emotion
When assessing performances, critics acknowledge occasional strong moments from the lead and certain supporting actors, yet many point to shallow character development and uneven chemistry. The protagonist’s portrayal is seen as over‑emphasized, leaving other roles underwritten. This imbalance diminishes emotional resonance, leading to a generally weak character impression.
Story & Flow
Regarding narrative structure, the plot is frequently described as predictable and riddled with inconsistencies, undermining coherence. Pacing issues contribute to a meandering flow that fails to sustain tension typical of espionage stories. While a few reviewers mention an engaging premise, the overall storytelling is judged as ineffective.
Sensory Experience
The film’s auditory and visual ambience receives minimal attention in reviews, with no notable praise for soundtrack, sound design, or stylistic flair. Absence of distinctive sensory elements contributes to a flat viewing experience, offering little to elevate the material beyond its narrative shortcomings.
Rewatch Factor
Given the combination of a weak script, uneven performances, and lackluster sensory design, repeat viewings are unlikely to reveal additional merit. While a small segment of the audience cites personal enjoyment, the prevailing sentiment suggests limited replay value, resulting in a low rewatch factor.

Suhana Bhatia, an esteemed IFS officer from a distinguished diplomatic family, finds herself caught in a web of political intrigue and dangerous espionage. Her father is on the verge of becoming the Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, while Suhana herself has recently been promoted to Deputy Commissioner at the Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom. Moving to London, she is driven around by her loyal driver, Salim, a former policeman, who provides her with support amid the unfolding chaos.
The story kicks off as India prepares to host the newly-elected Pakistani Prime Minister, Shahzad Alam, a politician who has publicly expressed a friendly, pro-India stance. Manohar Rawal, an important Indian cabinet minister, invites Alam to participate in India’s Independence Day celebrations, especially after Alam agrees to extradite a wanted terrorist, Yaseen Mirza. This political development raises hopes for improved relations between the two nations, but underlying tensions remain.
In London, Suhana meets Nakul, an ex-Michelin-star chef with whom she forms a connection. Their chemistry quickly deepens, leading to them spending the night together in her apartment. However, Suhana remains unaware that Nakul secretly records their intimate encounter. The following day, Nakul starts blackmailing her, demanding sensitive information about a new energy deal. Fearful that scandal could ruin her reputation and jeopardize her family’s diplomatic standing, Suhana reluctantly complies.
The blackmail continues, pushing Suhana to consider resigning from her post. Nakul, however, claims to be an ISI agent named Akhtar, creating a more complex and dangerous scenario for her, as she now risks being accused of treason. As her situation worsens, Jacob, a RAW agent working at the High Commission, confronts Suhana about the blackmail, but tragically, Jacob is shot dead by Akhtar. His death triggers an internal investigation, with senior RAW officers Sanjeev Bajpai and Sanjeev Kamat assigning Suhana to lead the inquiry—unaware that she was a witness to the events.
Suhana soon uncovers a sinister link between Akhtar and Salim, and when she confronts Salim at his apartment, he unexpectedly dies after she pushes him through a glass door during a struggle. Sebin Josephkutty, portrayed by [Roshan Mathew], arrives at the scene and initially suspects Suhana because of her emotional state following Jacob’s death. But Suhana manages to provide evidence that Akhtar is blackmailing her and that Salim was part of a larger conspiracy. Recognizing her integrity and resolve, Sebin agrees to work alongside her, and the duo begins to unravel a significant plot.
Through their investigation, they discover that Rawal and Kamat are involved in a vast conspiracy aimed at destabilizing regional peace. The conspiracy reaches a deadly climax with the assassination of Alam during his visit to India—an attempt orchestrated by David, a French-Canadian assassin posing as Nakul/Akhtar. The threat becomes imminent as they learn that the assassination will take place at a dargah in Delhi.
Determined to prevent catastrophe, Suhana and Sebin race against time to locate and stop David. Clad with intelligence from RAW agents, they track Alam’s schedule and infiltrate the area where the attack is imminent. Confronting David at a tower close to the target, Suhana manages to shoot and kill the assassin before he can carry out his deadly mission. As the conspiracy unravels, Kamat and Rawal are arrested, thwarting what could have been a major international crisis.
In the aftermath, Suhana is commended for her bravery in defusing the threat and saving countless lives. Her success catches the attention of a clandestine unit known as the Black Cats, who invite her to join their elite team. As she leaves the hospital, she shares her plans with Sebin, who reveals himself to be a member of the Black Cats all along, hinting at a new chapter in her career in intelligence and national service.
