In 15th‑century England, Richard, Duke of Gloucester, plots to seize the throne from his brother King Edward IV. Assisted by his crippled executioner Mord, he murders each rival, savoring the removal of figurines representing them from a miniature throne‑room. After Edward’s death Richard becomes Richard III and must confront the exiled Henry Tudor to retain power.
