75-year-old retiree Jaladhar Sen shares a home with his wife Umarani Sen, their son Partho Sen, and their granddaughter. The warmth of the house has cooled as the son’s dominating attitude and over-possessiveness put a strain on everyday moments, turning family life into a subtle pressure cooker. The son and his wife celebrate their own wedding anniversary in a grand, public way, while Jaladhar and Umarani plan a quiet, modest 46th anniversary, underscoring the widening gap between generations.

In search of renewal, the elderly couple spots a glimmer of hope in a travel plan and encounters a travel agent named Tonic, who becomes a beacon of possibility. The dream of a foreign trip is dashed, however, when Jaladhar’s wife cannot secure the necessary documents, and Jaladhar bluntly blames the travel agent for crushing their dreams. Yet the spark never truly fades. With renewed resolve, the two older lovers decide to chase a secret trip to Darjeeling, this time with Tonic by their side, and they slip away in the dead of night, leaving their worried son behind.

The Darjeeling escape proves life-affirming. Jaladhar dives into adventure—rock-climbing, paragliding, river-rafting, and a string of fearless moments—that push him past long-held fears and awaken a vitality he thought his prime years had left behind. The trip’s magic is celebrated when Tonic marks Jaladhar’s anniversary in a grand fashion and shares a surprising revelation with Umarani: his own parents died while he was abroad, a turning point that inspired him to help other aging couples seize their remaining time.

Back home, illness strikes Jaladhar, and he is hospitalized. The family’s dynamics come to a head as his son arrives with tensions rising and a threat to involve the police against the unconventional savior who has reshaped his parents’ lives. Yet the tension eases as he sees the happiness the journey has granted his parents, and a sense of reconciliation begins to take root. The story closes with a renewed sense of hope as the family agrees to cap their remarkable arc with a trip to Paris, a symbolic finale that mirrors the return of laughter, peace, and love into the Sen household.
