What Is To Be Twenty in the Aures About?

The premise of To Be Twenty in the Aures without spoilers.

A cohort of rebellious, pacifist Breton soldiers is deployed to Algeria, where the brutal realities of conflict slowly transform them into hardened combatants. One refuses to become a killer, deserts his unit and smuggles an FLN prisoner destined for execution the next day. The film won the International Critics Prize at Cannes in 1972 and was restored in 2012.
