In a race against time, the DSD team is led by K. Mahendran Jayaprakash as they confront a looming disaster: a rogue asteroid set to strike the Bay of Bengal in seven days, threatening eastern India. The plan to avert catastrophe hinges on destroying the asteroid with a heavy missile, but time is short. To pull it off, they decide to steal the missile from a Chinese space station, since reporting it missing would trigger escalation they cannot risk. This top-secret mission is known only to the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and the Defence Minister, turning a national crisis into a covert operation.

To execute the audacious plan, they recruit a cadre of expert thieves. The core team includes M. Vasu Ravi Mohan, a renowned escape artist, who joins forces with his friends S. Venkat Ramesh Thilak and K. Appu Arjunan Nandakumar. They are soon joined by DSD operatives M. Swathi Nivetha Pethuraj and D. Raguram Vincent Asokan, forming a crack crew ready to face one of the most perilous missions of their careers. After rigorous training, they board the expedition spacecraft Dhruva 1, stepping into the unknown with high hopes and a heavy burden weighing on their minds.

Before launch, Vasu receives a chilling warning over the voice channel: Ravi Aarav Ravi, Vasu’s son, has been kidnapped, and the kidnapper will demand compliance if he ever wishes to see him again. This chilling development binds Vasu to a treacherous path, as the crew steels themselves for a mission that blends genius, grit, and fear. The crew’s commitment is tested as they push forward, determined to salvage the mission and protect the larger goal of saving countless lives.

Dhruva 1 lifts off, but the mission’s fragile balance is tipped when Vasu quietly sabotages the craft by cutting some wires, triggering a fuel leak. He feigns unconsciousness to mask his actions as Venkat questions him, and Vasu reveals Ravi’s kidnapping, turning fear into a weapon. The ship veers off course and crashes down on the Moon, forcing the crew to make emergency repairs with dwindling fuel. To buy time and secure a way back to Earth, they hatch a clever plan to refuel at a space station, sparking a tense diplomatic and technical maneuver that traps them in a deadly chess game.

Upon docking at the station, the Dhruva 1 crew are seized by Captain Li Wei, and it becomes clear that the station’s occupants know the true purpose of the mission. Their sinister plan is to let the asteroid strike Bay of Bengal, destroying India while profiting China through massive reconstruction contracts. Onboard the station, Venkat and Appu work to disable the station’s systems, while Vasu decks the security with forged access and retrieves Captain Li Wei’s fingerprint and iris to slip into the missile chamber. He removes the missile and disappears, but Captain Li Wei intensifies the interrogation, forcing a brutal confrontation. Vasu claims the missile lies on Dhruva 1, and, in a fierce display of resolve, he neutralizes rivals who pursue him, sending a stark message through Swathi: the missile is aimed at Beijing, and he will launch if the Dhruva 1 crew is not released.

With the crew freed, Dhruva 1 heads back toward their ship while Vasu makes a perilous dash to the missile chamber. It’s revealed that the missile had remained on the space station all along, and Vasu seizes it, exiting through space but clipping the hull on debris, puncturing his suit and causing a dangerous oxygen leak. He survives the ordeal and returns the missile to Dhruva 1. Meanwhile, Dhruva 2 arrives to refuel Dhruva 1, and the mission’s mysteries deepen as the enigmatic voice’s instructions become a battleground between loyalty and treachery.

Rithika—Lt. Gen. T. Rithika Rethika Srinivas—overhears the orders relayed from Mahendran Jayaprakash and races to confront him. The revelation lands like a shock: Mahendran is the source of the voice and intends to sell the missile on the black market, throwing the entire operation into a subversive conspiracy. Back on Dhruva 1, the crew refuels and heads toward the asteroid to fire the weapon, but the ship discovers the missile is missing, and Ravi Aarav Ravi is released as part of the mounting tension.

As the truth unravels, Ravi exposes the deeper plot: Mahendran’s machinations and manipulation. He had orchestrated the crisis by feeding Vasu the plan and by manipulating Swathi and Raguram, creating decoys and exploiting the ship’s systems to simulate a safe path that would mislead the crew about the asteroid’s trajectory. The team learns that the systems were hacked to create a false safety margin, a ruse designed to ensure the asteroid would be diverted toward disaster unless they acted.

In a dramatic turn, the missile is fired, and the asteroid is split in two, averting catastrophe for Earth. Dhruva 1 sustains damage from debris, and the crew makes a harrowing escape back to Earth. Days later, Mahendran publicly awards medals to the Dhruva 1 crew, but the truth is laid bare as Vasu reveals that the entire team is aware of Mahendran’s treachery. Overwhelmed by the exposure, Mahendran kills himself backstage as Vasu, Appu, and Venkat walk away, having navigated an almost unimaginable gauntlet of loyalty, deception, and resilience.

In the end, the mission that began as a desperate bid to save millions ends with hard-won justice and a reminder of the cost of ambition. The crew’s courage, the bonds forged under pressure, and the uneasy victory over a hidden orchestrator leave a lasting impression on all who faced the darkness of space and the darkness within their own leaders.
