Zsolt, a corrupt businessman in Bucharest entwined with Spanish gangsters, has been illicitly smuggling drug money out of the country hidden in mattresses. Among those in his employ is his glamorous mistress, Gilda, as well as Cristi, a police inspector, who receives his payoffs kept secretly in his mother’s cellar. When Zsolt finds himself arrested, the Spaniards devise a sinister plot to liberate both him and the mattress-stuffed cash.
Their plan unfolds with Gilda seducing Cristi and whisking him away to the stunning Spanish island of La Gomera, where he will learn El Silbo, the native whistling language used for communication. In an elaborate scheme, Cristi is set to poison Zsolt, who will be hospitalized under close watch. Once Cristi knows the room number, he will signal Gilda with a whistle, enabling the Spaniards to execute their escape plan for Zsolt.
However, not everything goes as intended; chaos ensues and many of the involved characters meet grim fates. In the end, a gravely injured Cristi is hospitalized while Gilda triumphantly discovers the room number, whistling to him with an invitation to join her at a hotel in Singapore.
