After World War I, former soldier Lloyd Hart resumes his law practice while ex‑saloon keeper George Hally turns to bootlegging. Unemployed Eddie Bartlett becomes a cab driver, using his fleet to transport illegal liquor and hiring Lloyd as his attorney. George partners with Eddie, and their rackets thrive until love and rivalry threaten the operation.
