Egon and his crew are hired by a baron to fake theft of an antique Chinese vase. When the baron double‑crosses them, Egon swaps the priceless vase for a cheap Hong Kong copy. Their plan unfolds at the baron’s hunting party, where Egon is bricked in the catacombs, and at Copenhagen’s Royal Theatre, where they breach walls to the “Elverhøj” overture.

Egon Olsen, Ove Sprogøe, is released once again from the Vridsløselille prison and picked up by Kjeld Jensen, Poul Bundgaard, and Benny Frandsen, Morten Grunwald, as they head back to Kjeld’s home to be with Yvonne Jensen, Kirsten Walther. There, Yvonne isn’t thrilled by Egon, given his string of arrests, while Fie, Lene Brøndum, is on the scene preparing to marry Børge, Jes Holtsø, a man known for his porcelain-smashing habit around the house. The crew lays out a plan for their next caper: a Chinese vase valued at 1.5 million Danish kroner that they intend to sell to a Dutch buyer, Freddy Koch.
The scheme kicks off at Sankt Annæ Plads in Copenhagen, where the gang breaks in to snatch the vase, only to discover it is a Hong Kong-made copy and that Egon has been cheated. Undeterred, they set their sights on the original piece, but trouble follows when Egon becomes trapped and walled inside a basement, forcing Benny and Kjeld to work quickly to free him. After the setback, the original vase is handed over to the Dutch buyer, setting the team on a new, higher-stakes chase.
The pursuit leads them toward the Royal Theater, where the buyer is said to be waiting with both the money and the vase. The criminals push through with a bold plan, using improvised tools to break through four walls and reach an elevator that brings them straight to the Dutch buyer. In the end, they manage to seize both the money and the vase, turning the heist into a dramatic back-and-forth of risk and clever moves.
Meanwhile, personal plans unfold as Fie and Børge seal their marriage and depart for Mallorca, hoping for a fresh start. Yet a twist changes everything: Fie swaps the money-filled suitcase for one that contains ordinary clothes. The couple sails away with the fortune, leaving the rest of the gang stunned and the home-bound crew to confront the shock of finding the suitcase empty of cash. The result is a rousing blend of wit, deception, and witty reversals that keeps the caper alive even after the dust settles.
