What Is The Living and the Dead About?

Lord Donald and Lady Nancy live in the deteriorating Longleigh House with their mentally disabled adult son James. When Nancy falls seriously ill, Donald hires nurse Mary and plans to sell the house to fund an operation. Determined to prove himself, James locks Mary out, mixes his mother’s pills, neglects his own medication, and his health quickly declines.
