What Is The Judge and the Assassin About?
The premise of The Judge and the Assassin without spoilers.
Set in France, 1893, Joseph Bouvier tries to shoot his lover when she refuses to marry him, then attempts suicide. Released from a grim asylum with bullets still in his skull, he roams the countryside, raping and murdering teenagers for years. Judge Rousseau captures him but, driven by ambition, tries to have Bouvier declared insane instead of trial.
