Set against the eve of World War II in Lwów (now Lviv, Ukraine), Wielka Droga follows Adam and Irena as their love blooms, only to be torn apart by the coming storm. Their world is upended when the Soviets deport them to Siberia, a separation that tests them to the core. Yet fate brings them briefly back together when they join the newly formed Polish army, a fragile reunion that is soon ripped apart again by the tides of war.
