Spoilers ahead
In the early 20th century, set in Thuringia, Germany, a group of young girls navigates life within the confines of a secluded college, surrounded by dark forests and somber lakes. Among these girls, we meet Hidalla and her close friends: Irene, Vera, Blanka, Melusine, and Rain. Growing up in an isolated environment, their understanding of the world beyond the college’s walls is non-existent. They often play near a beautiful waterfall, yet they are strictly forbidden from interacting with the servants, who wear masks to signify their perceived inferiority.
