What Is The Fight for Greenland About?
The premise of The Fight for Greenland without spoilers.
Greenland, the world's largest island, has been part of Denmark since 1721, but a growing majority of its 56,000 inhabitants now desire independence. Concerns over the preservation of their culture and language, linked to high rates of youth suicide, fuel the independence movement. However, Danish-speaking Greenlanders feel discriminated against and wish to maintain their connection to Denmark. The documentary follows four young Greenlanders as they grapple with the future of their nation, exploring the complex relationship between self-determination and national identity amidst traditional culture and globalization.
