Set in 1880, a young girl is dispatched to Nantucket Island to stay with her enigmatic grandmother. While adjusting to the isolated coastal life, she uncovers her grandmother's unsettling rituals, most notably a nightly vigil honoring a lover who vanished at sea many years earlier, a loss that still haunts her.
