Andrew Harlan is drawn from the ordinary world into a clandestine order called Eternity, a force that operates outside of time and wields a vast authority over Earth’s fate. Members of Eternity can slip into any century, starting from the twenty-seventh century, through Time Capsules riding the endless Sockets of Time. The organization recruits new recruits from among ordinary people in childhood, training them to become Eternal—Observers, Computers, Sociologists, Technicians, and more. The story follows how a talented young Observer journeys into the heart of Eternity, where the line between duty and desire begins to blur.

In the 48th century, a figure known as the Council’s Senior Computer, Laban Twissel, brings the adept Harlan into his home and designates him as his personal Technician. This role places Harlan at the center of a perilous experiment: he is asked to guide a student named Cooper through the inaccessible histories of Primitive Earth. Cooper, a learner steeped in the ancient human past, becomes the focus of a plan that hinges on manipulating reality itself—an enterprise controlled by the mighty Computers who govern Eternity. The lure of knowledge and the age-old appeal of history pull Harlan toward a passion he has cherished since childhood, as he contemplates the larger arc of Eternity’s designs.

Trouble erupts when Harlan inadvertently introduces Cooper to the forbidden Time Capsule device, an act that earns him harsh exile and a severe punishment: he is reassigned as an Observer in Eternity’s 48th-century sector, where the formidable Administrator of that era, the Computer Finge, oversees operations. There, Harlan encounters the mortal Noÿs Lambent, a woman who, strangely enough, works for Finge as a secretary—a startling breakthrough in a world where women are scarce. The unexpected harmony between Eternal and mortal cultures threatens to derail Twissel’s carefully laid designs, especially as he plans to complete a cycle that would open a temporal field and anchor Eternity in the 27th century.

The plot thickens as Twissel discovers a historical memoir in Eternity’s archives—the tale of Mullanson, the founder the organization claims and the supposed training that would anchor Eternity in the distant future. He forwards this memoir into the 24th century, where it names his own name and Harlan’s, revealing how deeply intertwined the fates of these men are with Eternity’s grand design. This revelation undercuts existing plans and spurs a lengthy struggle over who controls history itself.

When the Computer Finge resolves to reforge the reality of the 48th century, Harlan acts to protect Noÿs. He seeks the counsel of the Sociologist Kantor Voy to determine whether Noÿs remains in a new timeline. The grim answer is that she does not exist in the altered reality, so Harlan makes a daring decision: he hides Noÿs away in the Hidden Centuries, a stagnant refuge beyond the thousandth century where escape from Eternity seems impossible. The Time Capsule itself falters, frozen in the thousandth century, trapping Harlan and testing his resolve.

From that moment on, Andrew Harlan embodies a rebel’s resolve—an Eternal “to the bone”—who refuses to let the world be rewritten to erase his beloved Noÿs. He becomes Eternity’s fiercest opponent, willing to defy the Council and even threaten the organization itself to secure a future with Noÿs Lambent. The conflict intensifies as Harlan navigates loyalties, moral codes, and the danger of altering time so profoundly that the very concept of Eternity could unravel. In the end, the story remains a meditation on passion, power, and the costs of choosing love over the immutable plans that govern the fabric of time.

Throughout this saga, the cast and their connections to Eternity are laid bare: Sociologist Voy helps test the consequences of timeline shifts, the enigmatic Noÿs Lambent embodies the fragile bridge between mortal desire and timeless duty, and the shadowy influence of multiple senior figures, including the towering presence of Senior Computer Finge and Senior Computer Sennor, looms over every decision. The world of Eternity—its experiments, its ethical boundaries, and its dangerous temptations—is rendered with a clear, measured voice that invites readers to weigh the price of altering history against the longing to rewrite one’s own fate. The result is a longer, richer journey through time that stays faithful to its core premise while inviting new interpretation and reflection.
