What Is The Empty Center About?
The premise of The Empty Center without spoilers.
Steyerl surveys the influx of corporations into Berlin, showing how economics and politics push residents to the fringe. In 1990 squatters proclaimed a socialist republic on the death strip; eight years later Mercedes‑Benz built headquarters there. Slow super‑impositions trace new borders, exposing those marginalized by demolition and reconstruction.
