Edward, Prince of Wales, Errol Flynn leads an English army into the French province of Aquitaine to shield its inhabitants from the ravages of the occupying French nobles and their forces. He is the son and heir to his father King Edward III of England, and after a hard-fought victory the English forces compel the nobles to sign a surrender. Yet the conspirators refuse to honor the treaty and secretly plot to kill Prince Edward, threatening the fragile peace that has just been won.

To defy English rule, they abduct as hostages the English Lady Joan Holland and her children, brazenly challenging English authority in France. The peril is immediate, and the king’s son must act quickly to save them from a graver fate. Edward’s resolve deepens as he confronts a web of betrayal that touches the very heart of Aquitaine.

Hand forced by the plot, Edward decides to rescue the hostages and begins a perilous mission to approach his enemies from within. He moves in disguise among the French, first adopting a realistic French guise and then taking on the mantle of the nameless Black Knight to draw his foes into the open. The risks are immense, and the mission tests his wits and courage at every turn, all while remaining determined to outpace the traitors who would see him dead.

In the midst of danger, he nearly falls into an ambush, but his training and quick thinking pull him through. He escapes with Lady Holland and her children, delivering them to safety and setting the stage for a dramatic counterstrike. The escape marks a turning point—now the fight shifts from covert maneuvering to open defense of those who depend on him.

From his Aquitaine castle, he rallies his English knights and their men-at-arms for a final, climactic battle. The odds are daunting as the French forces, numbering more, press the assault on the fortress. Yet [Edward, Prince of Wales] and his seasoned troops hold firm, turning the siege into a hard-won victory. The English forces crush the conspiracy and its army, reclaiming safety for the hostages and restoring a hard-won order to the province. In the end, the siege is broken, the captors are defeated, and the defenders’ courage is rewarded with a lasting peace that reverberates beyond Aquitaine.
