It departs Delhi with a full slate of passengers: a family led by Raja Ram Mohan and his wife, Padmini; a dangerous smuggler, Chander, and his fiancée Razia who are pursued by Inspector Ranbir; Major P. K. Bhandari and Pandit Shambhunath; Abdul Rahim, a Muslim traveler; a host of ticketless riders; a schoolteacher with students; Rakesh’s pregnant wife; Seema with her doctor cousin; and a cameo by Ashok, who remains shaken by recent events but is still drawn to Seema.
