When the Nazis invade the jungle seeking the riches of a hidden tribe, Zandra, the white princess of that lost civilization, seeks Tarzan's help. During World War II, Tarzan and his son Boy are living on the edge of the Great Escarpment, while Jane has returned to the United Kingdom to care for her sick mother. In a letter to Tarzan and Boy, Jane paints a picture of the widening struggle against Nazi Germany and the ways the war reaches distant corners of Africa. The world Tarzan calls home feels suddenly small in the face of a new threat: a small squad of German paratroopers lands in Sub-Saharan Africa with a clear aim to strip the region of its raw materials and to use a lost city, Palandrya, as an advance base to tighten their grip on the land and its people.
