In a remote jungle setting, jungle medics Dr. Sturdy Carl Benton Reid and his daughter Ann Sturdy Jil Jarmyn operate their medical work under growing opposition from Futa James Edwards, a witch doctor of the Nagasu tribe who sees their presence as a threat to his own livelihood and influence. Futa amplifies this fear, stirring the tribe to target Ann’s fiancé, Dr. Ken Warwick Harry Lauter, a danger that is narrowly averted when Tarzan Gordon Scott steps in to save Warwick and defuse the situation.

Following this confrontation, Tarzan and his adopted son Tartu Rickie Sorensen enlist the doctors’ help for Jane Eve Brent, who is suffering from appendicitis. In a bid to undermine the doctors, Futa hypnotizes Molo Nick Stewart, a native assistant of Sturdy, and orders him to murder Jane. Tarzan intervenes just in time to thwart the plot, preserving Jane’s life.

When the Nagasu chief falls ill, Tarzan tries to persuade the tribe to allow Sturdy to treat him, hoping to restore trust in the doctors. Seizing his chance, Futa has Tarzan captured and condemned to death as part of his manipulation to consolidate control. To regain credibility, Futa arranges a chain of treachery: his henchman Ramo Woody Strode steals medicine from Sturdy, and the plan culminates in a poisoned dose intended for the chief. Tarzan frees himself and interrupts the administration of the poison, but Futa innocence himself by swallowing the poison to prove it harmless—and dies.

With the witch doctor gone, Dr. Sturdy is summoned to the Nagasu camp and succeeds in curing the chief, restoring a fragile balance between science and tradition. Nearby, Native Mother Paulene Myers watches the events unfold, adding a quiet thread to the unfolding drama and reminding viewers of the broader human stakes in this jungle conflict.
