The film presents a complex tapestry of four interwoven narratives, all unfolding within a single day in Chennai. Each story reveals distinct experiences that challenge societal norms while also highlighting themes of love, acceptance, and the struggle against prejudice.

In Shilpa’s Story, we meet Jyothi and her young son, Rasukutty, who have been waiting for the return of Rasukutty’s father, Manickam. Abandoning the family seven years ago, Manickam returns transformed into a transgender woman named Shilpa. Jyothi grapples to accept this unexpected change, while Rasukutty embraces Shilpa wholeheartedly, eager to introduce her to his friends at school. However, their journey takes a dark turn when Berlin, a corrupt police inspector, detains Shilpa, demanding sexual favors in return for his assistance. Shilpa endures further humiliation and harassment at the hands of the school’s faculty and parents, leading her to purchase a train ticket back to her hijra community in Mumbai. When Rasukutty goes missing, Shilpa rushes to the police station only to face Berlin once again, who demands more sexual favors. She defiantly refuses, curses him, and manages to escape, eventually finding Rasukutty unharmed with Jyothi. Confronted by her son about the train ticket, Shilpa realizes their unconditional love and decides to stay with her family, leading to a emotional reunion.

The second story centers around a group of five teenagers—Gaaji, Soori, Mohan, Vasanth, and Thooyavan—who decide to skip school for a day of adult entertainment. They are mortified to discover that the actress in the adult film is none other than Soori’s mother, Leela. Filled with anger and betrayal, Soori reacts violently, leading to a broken television that Thooyavan fears will incur his father’s wrath. To cover the damage, Thooyavan teams up with Gaaji and Vasanth to earn money by taking on a delivery task, only to find themselves entangled with a local gangster and eventually in a comical showdown with an alien possessing telekinetic powers. This extraterrestrial being, fascinated by Gaaji, gifts them the cash they desperately need and creates a clone of Gaaji for companionship. After purchasing a new TV, they carelessly dispose of the old one, inadvertently leading to an unexpected climax when it crashes through the roof, coincidentally striking Berlin, marking the end of his corrupt deeds.

Leela’s Story unfolds as Soori, consumed by revenge, decides to confront his mother but tragically injures himself instead. His devoted mother, Leela, races him to the hospital, leading to a confrontation with her husband, Arputham, who is grappling with a profound spiritual crisis after surviving the 2004 tsunami. Arputham’s zeal for faith healing takes precedence over medical advice, causing conflict in the family. Driven to desperation by Shilpa’s previous interaction with him—where she divulged her painful past concerning a fatal decision—Arputham is pushed to the edge, eventually destroying a cherished statue of Jesus to discover its secret stash of diamonds. This unexpected fortune becomes crucial in saving Soori’s life, prompting a philosophical inquiry from Leela that leaves Arputham in deep contemplation about faith and divinity.

Lastly, in the Vaembu and Mugil’s Story, we see Vaembu trapped in an unfulfilling marriage with her husband, Mugil. When she invites her former lover over during Mugil’s absence, chaos ensues as he suddenly dies from a heart attack. Faced with the horrendous reality of disposing of the body, Mugil, fearing familial disgrace and professional ruin, agrees to assist Vaembu in hiding the evidence. Their plan to make it appear as a vehicular accident unravels when they are caught by Berlin, who blackmails them into returning home under his watch. The film reaches a twist of fate when the earlier events involving the teens culminate in a slapstick moment, leading to Berlin’s untimely demise just as he attempts to assault Vaembu. This incident ultimately strengthens the bond between Mugil and Vaembu, as they navigate through trauma, showcasing the resilience of their relationship.

In an epilogue, a reflective voice-over ties together these stories, pondering the interconnectedness and chaotic nature of life. As the teenagers sit in a cinema, the film they watch titled Vaazhvin Ragasiyam (“The Secret of Life”) introduces an actor promising to unveil the profound mysteries of human existence, leaving the audience with lingering questions and reflections.
