Singaperumal [Jackie Shroff] is an aging gangster who rules the city with a ruthless, tangible presence, enforcing his will on those around him. He forces himself on Subbu [Yasmin Ponnappa], but his performance falters and his frustration explodes in a sharp slap. This brittle dynamic sets the tone for a world where respect is earned through control and coercion. When Pasupathy [Sampath Raj], his trusted right-hand man, drops news of a large cocaine stash that has entered the city, the prospect of wealth and power pulses through the gang, tempting them with visions of dominance. The stash is pegged at ₹20,000,000 in value, with a potential buyer offering ₹5,000,000, a figure that promises a long-term grip on the market and the recognition that would follow. Yet the stash belongs to their arch-rival Gajendran’s gang, a fact that makes the venture perilous and doubles the stakes. Singaperumal weighs the risk, aware that Gajendran is vicious and unpredictable, and for a moment he contemplates passing on the deal. Pasupathy argues that the old man should stay clear, offering to take on the risk himself in exchange for a handsome cut, but Singaperumal asks him to secure the stash first and then work out the profit split.

Kaalayan [Guru Somasundaram] is a destitute farmer living in the city’s slums with his young, street-smart son Kodukapuli [Master Vasanth], surviving by staging cockfights that Singaperumal himself enjoys watching. Their simple life takes a sharp turn when a visitor arrives at their bunk for the night; the man is the cocaine courier, who hauls stashes in and out of the city for a modest fee. After a night of heavy drinking, the courier reveals how much value the stash truly holds and admits his intent to sell it himself. In a moment of compassion and fear, Subbu’s heartbreak is visible, and Singaperumal tasks Sappai [Ravi Krishna] to take her away and comfort her, a duty that becomes entangled with the larger web of crime.

The retrieval operation kicks into motion as Pasupathy and his men meet with the tipster to track down the stash. En route, Singaperumal orders one of his men to kill Pasupathy once the stash is secured. Pasupathy overhears this and engages in a tense Mexican stand-off with the others. In a desperate ploy, he deliberately provokes a cop at a checkpoint, getting arrested and then making a dramatic escape. The stakes escalate as the men kidnap Pasupathy’s wife Kasthuri to use as bait, pushing Pasupathy into an even more dangerous calculus. Meanwhile, Subbu begins to resist her role as mere property, pressing Sappai to think for himself and recognize that Singaperumal is using them. Sappai remains fearful and weak, unable to oppose, yet Subbu’s resolve grows. She pursues knowledge about the world beyond Singaperumal’s grip, while their uneasy alliance drifts toward a possible escape.

On the other side of the city, Kaalayan’s cockfight day turns sour when his prize rooster is killed, deepening his financial crisis. Kodukapuli senses the pressure and investigates their unconscious visitor, discovering that he died from alcohol poisoning. In a startling turn, they uncover the cocaine stash and a phone number for a prospective buyer—linked to Singaperumal and Pasupathy. Singaperumal, unsettled by the lack of progress, receives an ominous call from Gajapathy’s brother and right-hand man, warning that Pasupathy could trigger a gang war if he acts alone. To tilt the odds, Singaperumal tells Gajendran that Pasupathy has gone rogue, effectively clearing the path for Gajendran’s thugs to move against Pasupathy. As the chase intensifies, Pasupathy keeps one step ahead, hinting at possible alliances and a future where he could turn the tables on Singaperumal.

With the exchange plan in motion, Pasupathy and his allies converge on the hidden stash. A trap is sprung when Singaperumal’s thugs and Gajendran’s gang both rush to the site. Pasupathy pretends to offer the stash to Gajendran, but in a brutal moment of treachery, he slits Gajendran’s throat right in front of his rival’s eyes. Enraged, Gajendran and his men pursue Pasupathy, igniting a full-blown gang war that roars through the streets. Pasupathy maneuvers through the chaos, watching as Singaperumal’s key generals and Gajendran’s gang tear into each other, a costly proxy battle that leaves both sides bloodied and vulnerable. The plan succeeds in its own grim way, as Pasupathy seizes the moment to finish off Singaperumal himself.

Back in Singaperumal’s room, the missing loan bag becomes a sudden clue: Singaperumal suspects Sappai, who has just returned after a trip to fetch fruit. A brutal confrontation ensues, and Sappai is shot dead by Subbu just as Pasupathy arrives. The scene leaves Subbu in tears, but the dramatic irony continues as Pasupathy discovers that both men are dead and the city’s power vacuum remains. Pasupathy, recognizing Subbu’s influence and the need to stabilize what remains, takes command of the surviving faction of Singaperumal’s gang, ensuring Kasthuri’s safety as well. He later retrieves the stash and pays Kodukapuli a fair commission, moving toward a new, more fragile equilibrium.

In a twist that reshapes the entire narrative, Subbu’s actions are laid bare: she had orchestrated the entire chain, sending Sappai with the money bag to provoke Singaperumal’s temper, taking back the bag herself, and slipping away to begin a new life outside the city. She reflects that the men around her mistrusted, butchered, and misunderstood one another, and she notes that Sappai, too, is not entirely innocent. The film closes on a stark, provocative observation about gender and power:

The best thing about being a woman is that it is a man’s world.
