Marine Sgt. Brandon Beckett, Chad Michael Collins, follows in his father Thomas Beckett’s footsteps and embarks on a mission that tests his resolve far from home. Two months earlier, his squad had been reassigned from Afghanistan to the Democratic Republic of the Congo as part of the Africa Train and Equip Program (ATEP), a cross‑continental effort to train Congo forces to push back rebel factions backed by terrorists, with the bargain that African troops would join coalition efforts in Afghanistan in return.
The Congo base is led by Captain Sporo Ngoba Khulu M. Skenjana, who commands the local contingent as Brandon’s unit works alongside UN forces to bolster the fight against a growing rebel threat. While serving with the United Nations in the region, Brandon receives a high‑risk order: rescue a European farmer, Jean Van Brunt Rob Fruithof, trapped deep in rebel territory in August 2010. The mission carries unusual restrictions—UN forces are not supposed to operate in Congo, yet a government clearance allows a single operation, as rebels threaten all Europeans after Congo’s colonial era has ended. The plan involves ten soldiers, split evenly between UN troops and Congo army fighters: Kyle Brown Hlomla Dandala, Vincent Capobianco Nic Rasenti, Brandon Beckett, Captain Dustin Nelson Conrad Kemp, and Martin Hoag Justin Shaw alongside Lieutenant Ellen Abramowitz Annabel Wright from military intelligence.
When they arrive at Jean’s farm, Dustin Nelson gives an order for Jean to vacate, despite the man’s reluctance and lack of real choice. A mysterious sniper closes in, wounding Brandon, while Jean is shot trying to retreat into his house. Brandon and Dustin take cover inside an abandoned military cargo container beside the farmhouse. Brandon plans to wait until dusk, hoping the sniper’s day vision would be compromised and night vision goggles rendered less effective. But at dusk, the two soldiers are forced to improvise: Dustin is killed, and Brandon is wounded in the shoulder, tumbling into a shallow hole as the sniper remains at large. Before losing consciousness, Brandon catches a glimpse of the shooter.
Brandon is saved by hunter‑conservationist Martin Chandler Patrick Lyster and taken to Martin’s camp. Martin runs an orphanage, protecting children from rebels who would recruit them as soldiers. Back at the farm, Brandon and Martin discover Jean’s daughter, Kelli Van Brunt Kayla Privett, hidden inside the house. They return to Martin’s camp only to learn the rebels have struck again, looting the orphanage and taking several children captive. Martin resolves to pursue the rebels, but Brandon decides to escort Kelli to the border and then to a safer UN base. Across the border, Brandon staggers into the UN facility, coughing up blood from a septic wound.
With him are the sniper instructor Richard Miller Billy Zane and UN Lieutenant Ellen Abramowitz Annabel Wright, and a personal mission begins: avenge his fallen teammates. Captain Ngoba has already returned to base and reports that Vincent “The Italian” Masiello Justin Strydom is the sniper—an accusation that points toward a larger conspiracy at the heart of the arms trade. A United Nations inquiry is dismissed by Colonel Ralf Jäger Richard Sammel, who insists the assault was simply a rebel attack.
Brandon goes off the grid to uncover who supplied the rebels with weapons and why. He teams up with Martin to investigate a rebel base where they uncover caches of American arms, with Miller playing a complicated double role in the conflict. Miller claims to know the identity of the sniper, and the investigation reveals that Jean Van Brunt was trafficking US arms to the rebels, a detail that could connect the farmer to the broader arms network.
To draw Vincent out, Brandon reveals his location to Ellen, prompting a rescue attempt by the UN and a security detail. But the mission becomes a firefight: an ambush targets Ellen and Brandon as Miller provides cover. Captain Ngoba, part of the operations, is captured, and Vincent finally reveals that Vincent’s orders came from United Nations Colonel Ralf Jäger to cover up the arms‑dealing plot that funneled weapons to both sides of the Congo’s civil war.
Vincent kills Ngoba and incapacitates Miller, but Brandon uses a clever trick—blinding Vincent’s night vision by triggering a large explosion—to close the distance. He flanks the sniper and executes him, ending Vincent’s threat. Miller, for his part, has vanished from the scene. After capturing Jäger, Brandon’s confrontation with the colonel yields a recorded confession, a breakthrough that Ellen preserves on video.
With the conspiracy exposed, Miller offers Brandon a path into Special Operations, inviting him to consider a future beyond frontline firefights. The mission closes on a note of hard‑won truth and tempered justice, as the Beckett legacy continues to unfold against the backdrop of a conflicted Congo and a web of covert arms deals that reach far beyond a single farm or a single mission.
