Walter Weed, Tom Berenger, is an unassuming FBI desk jockey who receives a chilling warning from a shadowy figure named Hal Leuco: he will be assassinated on April 19 at exactly 3:00 am. The threat isn’t vague—several killers have taken the contract, including Ariella Martinez, Martha Higareda, a femme fatale who wields exotic poisons; Finbar McTeague, Vinnie Jones, nicknamed “The Surgeon” for his brutal tortures; Fritz Tremor, Michael Parks; and his children Lester Tremor, Maury Sterling and Kaitlyn Tremor, [Autumn Reeser](/actor/autumn-reeser, along with Baby Boy Tremor, C. Ernst Harth. Also in play is Lazlo Soot, Tommy Flanagan, a sadistic master of disguise who can slip into any role. The scope of the threat is as chilling as it is comprehensive, and Weed understands that multiple killers have converged on Chicago with one deadly purpose.

An FBI unit led by Agent Baker, Clayne Crawford, moves Weed into a bunker beneath a safe-house that masquerades as a jazz bar. Weed is directly protected by Baker and his colleagues Agent Nicholas, Jared Keeso, and Agent Redstone, Hrothgar Mathews, while fellow Agent Malcolm Little, Christopher Michael Holley, oversees various agents posing as bar staff and patrons. Outside, a separate team under Agent Abrego, Jason Schombing, guards the corridors between the bunker door and the bar, and Supervisory Agent Dominic Dumare, David Richmond-Peck, keeps watch from a nearby hotel. The tension thickens as the assassins begin their approach, each moving through Chicago to reach the location at their own pace.

Inside the bunker, Soot breaches the perimeter by killing Dumare and slipping into the secure area in a dangerous masquerade, his disguise briefly holding under pressure until it’s damaged during a fatal confrontation. Outside, the Tremors push their way through the building’s defenses, killing agents in a flurry of strategic strikes as McTeague and Martinez maneuver to secure Weed. The group outside also sets a brutal tempo with a bomb-equipped clown that rips through the bar doors, igniting a chaotic firefight. Martinez, mortally wounded, dies in the theater of violence as McTeague cradles her in a final, desperate moment. In a cruel turn of fate, Baby Boy Tremor is slain by Lester in a chilling echo of past abuses, while Fritz Tremor is cut down by Lester and Fritz’s own brotherhood of fear.

As the siege intensifies, Soot presses further, his impersonation of Dumare allowing him to slip deeper into the bunker’s secured zones. The pair of Tremors breach the elevator and slaughter the agents stationed outside, and Kaitlyn breaches the bunker via connecting tunnels, unleashing a volley of fire on Weed’s protectors. Nicholas dies bravely defending Weed just before Baker shoots Kaitlyn to end the immediate threat. With only minutes remaining, Weed attempts to open the bunker door himself, revealing a hidden C4 charge mounted under his wheelchair and connected to a dead-man switch. Redstone makes a last desperate move to eliminate Weed, but Baker shoots Redstone and chaos threatens to overwhelm them all. Weed proclaims that he must die to end the assassins’ reign of carnage, hoping to be hailed as a patriotic hero—an idea that forces Baker to reassess the entire mission.

Realizing Weed is dangerously unstable, Baker tries to salvage what he can by dragging Redstone toward a spider trap shelter on the bunker floor. Weed detonates the C4, collapsing the bunker and destroying the bar in a cataclysmic blast. The explosion leaves only Baker and Agent Little as the surviving FBI operatives; the rest are either dead or scattered in the ruin. Fritz Tremor, now critically wounded, is killed by Lester in a grim moment of revenge for years of abuse. In the smoky aftermath, Baker steps out into the wreckage and is approached by Special Agent Anthony Vejar, who reveals Weed’s true identity: he is a CIA elite black ops specialist, living under Hal Leuco’s alias to corral the assassins for covert missions across the years. Baker realizes Weed is alive after all, but before any chance of reconciliation can form, Baker, with grim resolve, shoots Weed dead and walks away, leaving the conspiracy and the danger behind him—at least for now.

The story unfolds as a brutal, tightly choreographed web of loyalty, deception, and strategic violence, where the line between protector and hunter blurs in the late-hour chaos, and the ultimate reveal reframes Weed’s entire mission as a long game of cat-and-mouse played on a global stage.
