Shazam! Fury of the Gods 2023

Two years have passed since the defeat of Thaddeus Sivana, and now the daughters of Titan Atlas are on a mission. Hespera Helen Mirren, the eldest daughter armed with elemental powers, alongside Kalypso Lucy Liu, the middle daughter who wields the power of chaos, infiltrate the Acropolis Museum in Athens, Greece. Their goal? To seize the broken staff of the Wizard Djimon Hounsou, a powerful artifact that channels the guilt of all Gods.

Once they capture the Wizard and compel him to restore the staff’s abilities, the story shifts to Philadelphia. Here, Billy Batson [Zachary Levi], along with his foster siblings—collectively known as the “Shazamily”—are busy responding to an emergency on the crumbling Benjamin Franklin Bridge. However, the siblings face criticism for their reckless actions which led to the bridge’s destruction. Each of them, after vanquishing seven demons upon the Wizard’s demise, has gained their own unique superpowers. Yet, beneath the surface, personal conflicts begin to emerge.

As they grow older, the siblings start to drift apart. Mary [Grace Fulton], Billy’s intelligent and responsible older foster sister, grapples with the difficulty of balancing her superhero life with her aspirations of attending college. Meanwhile, Billy fears he may be expelled from the Vasquez family as he approaches the age limit for being a foster child. Among his younger siblings are Eugene [Ross Butler] and Darla [Meagan Good], who each add their own flavors to this blended family dynamic.

Billy receives a dream warning from the Wizard about the impending threat posed by the daughters of Atlas, prompting the Shazamily to gather information about them. They uncover that the daughters are the guardians of the Tree of Life, which produces magical Golden Apples, the very seeds that birthed their realm. Protected by a fierce dragon, the tree and its origins hold immense significance as the Titan Atlas is revealed to have crafted the staff to bestow and withdraw superpowers.

When Shazam broke this staff to thwart Sivana’s evil plans, it inadvertently shattered the magical barrier enclosing the God Realm, thereby releasing Hespera and Kalypso. In this tumultuous world, Freddy [Jack Grazer] falls for a mysterious girl named Anne [Rachel Zegler], who is later unveiled as the youngest daughter of Atlas, Anthea. When Hespera and Kalypso use the newly restored staff to strip Freddy of his powers, the stakes skyrocket. The daughters’ vengeful motivations come into play as they aim to confront the Wizard, believing he is responsible for their father’s demise.

A powerful confrontation ensues when the Shazamily ventures into the Rock of Eternity, armed with the help of a talking pen named Steve to draft a letter beseeching Hespera for Freddy’s release. As tensions rise, alliances and loyalties shift, especially when Hespera lays out her intentions to reclaim the siblings’ powers and restore magic to the God Realm. Amid the chaos, a bittersweet twist reveals that while some powers are lost, others emerge, leading to an all-out war between the Shazamily and the daughters.

In the climax, Hespera ultimately finds herself at odds with her sisters as they wrestle for control of the Earth and the magical Apple. Billy, in a moment of pure desperation after witnessing tragedy, seeks to prove his heroism even in his lowest moments. With Hespera’s begrudging help, he devises a plan to confront Kalypso, leading to spectacular showdowns where overloading the staff with lightning emerges as the key to survival.

“You are a true hero, worthy of your powers,” the Wizard assures Billy.

With clever strategies—including the enlistment of unicorns to combat the monstrous threats unleashed by Kalypso’s actions—the Shazamily faces unthinkable obstacles. Their resolve is tested, culminating in a heart-wrenching battle where Billy ultimately sacrifices himself in a bid to save the world, proving his worthiness as he departs from life itself.

In an emotional and triumphant conclusion, Anthea accompanies the grieving family to the God Realm for Billy’s burial. Just as despair settles in, Diana Prince [not provided] arrives, repairing the staff and using her godly powers to resurrect Billy and restore the balance between worlds. The Shazamily gradually rebuilds their bonds, while Anthea and the Wizard decide to integrate into life on Earth.

In a mid-credits scene, Billy receives an intriguing offer from Emilia Harcourt [not provided] and John Economos [not provided] to join the Justice Society, leaving fans eager for the next chapter in this vibrant saga.
