Renegade soldier Colonel Ryan Beckett is called in by Rutger Hauer to save the planet after a Chinese nuclear test accidentally loosens the subterranean plates and exposes the Earth’s core, a crisis that looms over the world with a clock-ticking countdown of three days to avert what many call “Hell on Earth.”

Beckett must assemble a crack team to deliver and detonate not one, but two nuclear bombs that must go off simultaneously in the only place on the planet where they can halt the plate movement—Los Angeles. The city is evacuated in a frenzy, and Beckett’s teen daughter, Faith Beckett, is abducted by a religious-fanatic pyromaniac, forcing him to balance a race against time with a desperate rescue mission to save her before the world is doomed. The tension tightens as each passing hour brings new danger and a growing sense that every decision could tilt the balance between salvation and cataclysm.

On the ground, Beckett is joined by scientists and soldiers, and a delicate romance develops with Tamara Davies, who plays Julie, a key scientist on the team. Julie’s work creates friction with her father, Dr. Matthew Sallin, portrayed by John Rhys-Davies, a brilliant mind on the same mission who becomes entwined in the team’s efforts as they push toward a risky solution. The mission is complicated by the presence of the scheming Kellaway, portrayed by Mark Rolston, a ruthless operative who despises Beckett so deeply that he would gladly see the world perish just to take him down. Faith somehow manages to reach out with a crucial SOS via text, guiding Beckett, Julie, and Faith toward a way out. They discover a deep shaft in a subway station that could serve as the drop point for the devices, a plan that could buy the crucial seconds needed to avert catastrophe. Yet Kellaway intensifies the peril by murdering the rest of the team, leaving only the pilot to carry them to safety as the hidden clock ticks away. Beckett faces a brutal choice: confront the traitor and protect his people, or abandon the mission to save the world. In a high-stakes clash between loyalty and survival, the heroes push forward, driven by the hope that leaving Los Angeles intact is possible only if they can execute the plan precisely.

As the final act unfolds, the pilot lands a presidential jet right in the middle of the road, and Beckett, Julie, and Faith race to seal the operation. The two bombs detonate in the designated location, the shockwave destroying Los Angeles and halting the movement of the plates just in time. In the aftermath, the world breathes again, the immediate danger recedes, and a wary sense of renewal settles over those who survived the ordeal.
