Beau Bridges plays Dr. Simon Kress, a government researcher whose Martian life studies are abruptly halted when an escaped specimen nearly breaches the surface. Undeterred, he continues the work in a shielded barn, secretly stealing sand containing Martian eggs from the lab and rigging a makeshift incubator to hatch more of the enigmatic sandkings.
