Selvarasu is the head of his family, a steady patriarch surrounded by two devoted brothers, Thangarasu Murali and Chinnarasu Manoj Bharathiraja, who are ready to lay down their lives for him. The three brothers share a warm, protective bond with their sister Rasamani Kaveri, Savithri alias Rasamani, a central figure whose struggles anchor the tale. A wealthy man from the neighboring village, Rangarajan, takes offense after Thangarasu mishandles his son Aakash during a temple festival, and he comes bearing a marriage proposal to make Rasamani his daughter-in-law. At the wedding, the groom’s family pushes to transfer Selvarasu’s entire wealth to Rasamani as a dowry, a demand that Selvarasu and his brothers reluctantly accept in a bid to keep the peace and secure Rasamani’s future. The brothers and Rasamani soon find themselves facing insults and mistreatment from Rasamani’s husband and father-in-law, a cruelty that weighs heavily on them all.

Selvarasu is married to Lakshmi [Abhirami], while Thangarasu is wed to his cousin Durga [Sindhu Menon], and Chinnarasu is in love with his classmate Priya. Rasamani conceives a child, but the torment from her in-laws persists, casting a long shadow over her growing expectancy. Chinnarasu’s own wedding is arranged with Priya, and the brothers eagerly anticipate Rasamani’s arrival for the ceremony. Yet Rasamani is effectively imprisoned in a room by Aakash, who forbids her presence at the wedding and even injures her feet during a thwarted escape attempt. When the brothers learn of Rasamani’s plight, they rush to her aid and confront Aakash’s goons, fighting to reach her and to safeguard her dignity.

Rasamani’s mounting outrage finally drives her to sever the ties with Aakash. She removes the thaali and throws it at her husband, signaling her choice to leave that life behind. She decides to join her brothers, and together they reclaim their assets. The story culminates in Rasamani finding safety and a renewed sense of family happiness as she lives once more beside her brothers, secure and supported by their unwavering bond.
