Ananth Abraham is a well-known singer in a troupe, constantly surrounded by adoring female fans who will go to great lengths for him. He lives in Bangalore with the rest of the troupe members and moves through life with a confident, showman-like presence. At an inaugural function, he is introduced to Athira Menon, a designer, and their encounter quickly sets a tone of sparkling chemistry and impulsive decisions. On the wedding eve of a friend, he spends a night with her, and the morning after reveals a mismatch in expectations: they aren’t meant to be together, so they part ways.
A few days later, Athira discovers she is pregnant. While she wants to raise the child, she does not want to marry Ananth. She confides in her friend Sanjana Kurien, a bold photographer who rides a bullet motorcycle with a fearless spirit. Sanjana’s candid confidence helps Athira form a plan to face what’s ahead. Meanwhile, Athira’s parents have lived separately for 28 years without a divorce, a detail that shapes her resolve to raise the child on her own. When Sanjana reveals that the child is indeed Ananth’s, he makes a surprising decision: he will marry Athira to give the child his surname and ensure the child is not fatherless, with the understanding that they will separate after the naming ceremony. He shares this plan with Athira, who agrees, but with a condition—that he should stay in her house after the marriage. Alice, Mallika Sukumaran, his best friend and grandmother, helps him win the support of his parents.
The couple registers their marriage with their families present, and at the moment the papers are signed, Athira vomits—an early signal to everyone that she is pregnant. The scene shifts to Athira’s home, where a quiet bond begins to form between them amid playful bickering and small, almost unspoken feelings. Athira’s childhood friend Michael arrives, and Ananth feels uneasy about the growing closeness between them. As time passes, Athira, Ananth, and their families attend the function for Ananth’s album release, and Athira accompanies him to his hometown, where she finds herself drawn to the familiarity and warmth there.
In the days that follow, the two begin to recognize stronger feelings for each other but remain silent about them. The couple’s world is briefly upended when Ananth’s grandmother is admitted to the ICU, prompting Athira to accompany him to his native village, a place she comes to like. They return, yet the undercurrent of attraction remains unspoken, quietly shaping their evolving relationship. With the due date approaching, Athira is admitted to hospital for delivery. A doctor’s warning of complications arrives, and there is heartbreaking news: the child, a boy, will not survive.
Grief settles over Athira, and Ananth finds himself torn between his career ambitions and the fragile, growing bond he has with her. He has long planned a mega show in Australia that would last a year, and as they move through this painful chapter, both begin to sense a deepening pull toward each other, even as they hesitate to admit it. When the moment to depart for Australia arrives, Athira announces she will file for divorce and send the papers to Australia, and Ananth is taken aback, asking her to step out of the room. He heads to the airport in a taxi, passport and visa in hand, while Athira follows after him, calmly applying nail polish as if brushing off the tension.
He clutches his passport, finds a message written by Athira on it in nail polish, and the sight sends him into a turmoil of emotions. He boards the taxi, then suddenly, driven by a mix of relief and longing, he turns back. Athira’s quiet resolve and the handwritten note pull him to return home. He discovers the message on the passport and its meaning, realizes that he was meant to come back, and—through a charged, restored understanding between them—he and Athira finally come together. The story closes on a note of renewed connection, where their shared history and the fragile promise of the future bring them back to one another.
