Spoilers ahead
Raj “Raju” Mathur Shah Rukh Khan is a young civil engineering diploma holder from Darjeeling who arrives in Bombay chasing a single, bold dream: to become a top-tier engineer. He steps off into a bustling, lower-middle-class neighborhood with little more than ambition and a willingness to start from scratch. He searches for a distant relative, only to learn the relative left years ago, leaving him to face the city’s maze on his own. A night spent at a temple sets the stage for an unlikely friendship when he meets Jai Nana Patekar, a philosophically inclined streetside performer who offers shelter and guidance.
