Raja Hindustani 1996

Aarti Sehgal is a beautiful young woman whose life is upended when her stepmother, Shalini Sehgal, schemes to claim her father Bakshrath’s wealth. Aarti travels to Palankhet to reconnect with memories of her late mother and, while there, hires a capable driver to navigate the unfamiliar terrain. The man who becomes her driver is Raja Hindustani, and as they spend time together, a quiet bond forms between them, growing into something deeper after an accidental, passionately charged kiss that changes the course of both their lives.

When Bakshrath arrives to bring Aarti back to Mumbai, he rejects Raja as a suitable son-in-law, but the pair choose to follow their hearts and marry in defiance of his wishes. This bold act gradually earns Bakshrath’s reluctant approval, and soon the newlyweds find themselves moving to Mumbai to begin their life together.

Shalini, determined to seize control of Bakshrath’s assets, engineers a trap that drives Raja and Aarti apart. The separation is painful, but a glimmer of hope appears when Aarti discovers she is pregnant and resolves to reunite with Raja. The doctor’s advice to avoid travel complicates matters, and Shalini is tasked with returning to Palankhet to persuade Raja to come back to Mumbai. Yet her scheming takes a new turn: she feeds Raja the false notion that Aarti wants a divorce, while she convinces Aarti that Raja has come to hate her. Misunderstandings fester, and the couple’s separation deepens.

Six months pass, and Aarti gives birth to a son, a child she loves with all her heart. Raja learns that the baby is his, but he fears he may be kept away from them. In a desperate move, he kidnaps the child, hoping to claim what he fears losing. The truth about Shalini’s deceit eventually comes to light. Distraught, Aarti reveals the full truth to Raja, and the couple is reunited, choosing to face the future together despite the obstacles that once stood in their way.
