The film opens with a stark image: a man is burned alive on the floor of a rain-soaked warehouse, and a figure cloaked in darkness steps away from the blaze as the downpour continues. In a sharp cut, the story shifts to a bank heist in full swing: two men—along with two more accomplices and a hostage in their trunk—coolly lift stacks of bonds from a safety deposit box, then speed away toward an unseen destination. Their route leads them back to the very warehouse where the earlier tragedy took place, a twist that immediately raises the stakes.
Inside, Ryu enters the dim space to a grim discovery: a charred corpse lies sprawled on the floor, the identity of the man who hired them now wrapped in smoke and ash. The other criminals flood in, sharing the same shock, and the mood shifts from confidence to uneasy tension. What should they do next? Do they wait for the mysterious employer to arrive, a person none of them has met, or do they split the bonds and vanish into the night? The questions soon give way to suspicion as the group begins to turn on one another, each man wondering if one of them might secretly be the mastermind who set this whole thing in motion.
What follows is a deliberate pull into the past. The rest of the film unfolds through a series of interwoven flashbacks that trace the events leading up to the heist—revealing motives, loyalties, and missteps that culminated in this precarious moment. These memories cut back to the present, where the criminals press each other for answers, trying to separate truth from deception and to identify the hidden thread that ties the day’s carnage to the job’s initiation. The narrative structure keeps the pressure constant as trust frays and old alliances are questioned, all while the looming question of who really pulled the strings remains just out of reach.
As the present scenes converge with the memory fragments, the film paints a tense portrait of greed, fear, and the fragile line between planning and catastrophe. The interplay of past and present intensifies the mystery, inviting viewers to sift through truth and fear in equal measure, until the final reveal—if there is one—feels earned by the characters’ choices and the consequences that ripple from a single, devastating decision.
