Mike Weiss, a young lawyer from Houston battling addiction, partners with his longtime friend and law associate, Paul Danziger, in their firm, Danziger & Weiss. Their legal journey begins when they decide to represent Vicky Rogers, a dedicated ER nurse who contracts HIV after being accidentally pricked by a contaminated needle on the job. Vicky introduces them to a groundbreaking safety needle, invented by her family friend Jeffrey Dancort, which is designed to prevent such accidental needlesticks by being single-use only. With a deep sense of urgency, Vicky implores Mike and Paul to advocate for the product’s adoption in hospitals. Tragically, Vicky succumbs to her illness, a loss that profoundly affects Mike.
