Rajkumar Shamsher Singh, the spoiled heir of the local Maharaja, is a reckless, alcoholic, and womanizing man who expects everyone to bow before his princely status, a role embodied on screen by Shammi Kapoor. His swagger meets swift resistance when a priest refuses to bow, and Shamsher pummels him mercilessly, only to be rebuked by the man’s quiet truth: true meaning in life lies in renouncing palatial pleasures for at least six months. Faced with this stark challenge, Shamsher agrees to the ordeal and even engineers a staged car accident to fake his own death, hoping the world will forget his name.

With the palace convinced he is dead, Shamsher slips away to a nearby village, where a blind woman mistakes him for her long-lost son and begins calling him Sajjan Singh. Seizing the opportunity, he decides to play along, adopting the persona that fate has handed him. But his new life is complicated from the start: two corrupt palace officials spot Sajjan and quickly realize the value of a lookalike who can impersonate a prince. They conspire with him to pose as Shamsher for a hefty ransom, and Sajjan agrees, drawn by the possibility of a better, easier life.

As Sajjan slides into the royal role, he uncovers a troubling scene back at the palace: his father has remarried a much younger woman, Ratna, and barely after the wedding, the old king dies, leaving the throne—and the management of the palace—in the hands of Ratna and her greedy brother. Ratna is brought to life on screen by Parveen Choudhary, whose presence marks a new chapter of power struggles within the royal household. The revelation unsettles Shamsher, who longs to reveal his true identity, yet the looming threat from the officials and the fear of exposing himself to his newly found blind mother keep him locked in a dangerous masquerade.

Caught between loyalty and self-preservation, Sajjan’s deception becomes a perilous trap. The palace officials threaten to expose him to the woman who raised him in ignorance, while Shamsher realizes that his body remains under the control of a man he is not, compelled to continue living as Sajjan Singh. In this tangled web of mistaken identities, looming royal duty, and personal redemption, the future of the throne—and the life of a man who once believed he was above consequence—hangs in the balance, waiting for truth to break through the illusion.
