Stan, Stan Laurel and Ollie, Oliver Hardy, are unexpectedly reunited with their long-lost twin brothers, Alf and Bert, whose supposed demise is revealed by a photograph tucked inside a letter. Alf and Bert, now sailors aboard the SS Periwinkle, dock in the same harbor as Stan and Ollie’s home, accompanied by their wives, Daphne Pollard as Daphne and Betty Brown as Betty.
Aboard the ship, Alf and Bert encounter Finn, James Finlayson as Finn, the ship’s wily chief engineer, who tempts them with the prospect of easy wealth. They entrust their earnings to Finn for safekeeping, but he refuses to return their wages. Matters escalate as they unwittingly pawn a valuable ring entrusted to them by the ship’s captain, Sidney Toler as Captain, exacerbating their financial predicament.
