Night Train to Paris 1964

In London, secret agents chase a reel of tape carrying defense information, a thread that tugs at the edges of a tense espionage web. The former OSS officer Alan Holiday, Leslie Nielsen, finds himself juggling a flurry of demand—tickets on a boat train to Paris on New Year’s Eve—while the clock ticks and danger looms. A sense of urgency mingles with holiday crowds, as Holiday’s attention keeps returning to a plan that must not fail.

Catherine Carrel, Aliza Gur, a friend of Jules Lemoine—a fellow OSS veteran who served alongside Holiday during the Korean War—urges him to help get the tape to Paris. The plan is intricate and high-stakes: smuggle the genuine tape aboard the night train by presenting themselves as assistants and models for the photographer Louis Vernay, André Maranne. Vernay’s Model Jennifer White accompanies them, a living prop in a delicate masquerade that blurs lines between professional duties and undercover operation.

The morning of departure, catastrophe strikes. Lemoine is killed, and the fake reel is stolen, throwing the mission into disarray. Holiday rushes to the train with the real tape, slipping into the role of Vernay’s assistant as the carriages begin to move. On board, the group encounters Olive Davies, Dorinda Stevens, who quickly reads Holiday’s practiced facade and deduces that his identity isn’t what it seems. The tension thickens as each passenger could be a pawn or a player in a game where every move counts.

A raucous New Year’s party aboard the train provides cover for Holiday as he fights to stay one step ahead of Lemoine’s assassin. The atmosphere—smoke, laughter, and crowded compartments—hides a high-stakes pursuit that travels from Britain toward Dunkirk, where loyalties blur and every second matters. Catherine, willing to risk everything to recover the tape, makes a bold move at Dunkirk, incapacitating Olive and pressing forward in a chase that zigzags through compartments and checkpoints.

A brief firefight punctuates the pursuit, and Catherine is eventually restrained by reinforcements Olive has summoned in her capacity as a spy. With the debt of danger paid and the tape secured—or perhaps handed off into the hands of those who can keep it from falling into the wrong hands—Holiday breathes a measured relief. The mission concludes with the challenge resolved, and the tremor of risk subsides, leaving the participants to contemplate what they’ve sacrificed and what, if anything, remains unresolved.
