Retirees Marion and Tom reside in the charming seaside town of Peacehaven in England. Their tranquil life takes a turn when they learn that an old friend, Patrick, has suffered a serious stroke. In a gesture of compassion, Marion decides to take Patrick into their home to care for him. However, this decision stirs resentment within Tom, who struggles to accept Patrick’s presence in their lives and chooses to ignore him altogether. Flashing back to 1957 in Brighton, we find museum curator Patrick Hazelwood meeting the policeman Tom Burgess after reporting an accident. Patrick gives Tom his business card, which leads to an eventual visit at the museum. During a friendly evening at Patrick’s flat, drinks are shared, and as intimacy unfolds, Tom unexpectedly initiates a physical connection.
