Priya Kajol is a student at Lawrence School in Ooty, known for her friendly and precocious spirit, as well as her love of singing and attending church. From childhood, Priya dreams of serving in a convent as a nun, a path that clashes with her father Amalraj’s Girish Karnad expectations. Amalraj, a widower and clothing industrialist, wants Priya to help run Amalraj Garments, and he even tries to steer her toward an arranged marriage to keep her on a safe, traditional path. Yet Priya’s heart remains set on her spiritual calling, a tension that plays out against the backdrop of a family history that includes Amalraj’s past with his rival James Thangadurai, S. P. Balasubramaniam, who runs a competing business across from Amalraj Garments.
