Priya Kajol is a student at Lawrence School in Ooty, known for her friendly and precocious spirit, as well as her love of singing and attending church. From childhood, Priya dreams of serving in a convent as a nun, a path that clashes with her father Amalraj’s Girish Karnad expectations. Amalraj, a widower and clothing industrialist, wants Priya to help run Amalraj Garments, and he even tries to steer her toward an arranged marriage to keep her on a safe, traditional path. Yet Priya’s heart remains set on her spiritual calling, a tension that plays out against the backdrop of a family history that includes Amalraj’s past with his rival James Thangadurai, S. P. Balasubramaniam, who runs a competing business across from Amalraj Garments. The long-standing friction between these two business families adds a sharp edge to the village’s social fabric, even as Priya and James’s paths loom as potential conflicts in Priya’s future.

When Thomas Thangadurai, Arvind Swamy, a non-resident Indian, returns to Ooty after earning his Ph.D. from Harvard to oversee his father James Thangadurai’s business, old friendships rekindle. Thomas and Priya have known each other since childhood, and their shared history gradually surfaces as Thomas reconnects with his roots. He visits his aunt, the Mother Superior, Arundathi Nag, at the Lawrence School to surprise her with a birthday gift, and in the process—through a mix of chance and affection—he falls for Priya. Yet the prospect of love threatens to derail Priya’s vowed path, and Thomas struggles to find the right moment to confess his feelings, unsure how Priya will respond to the idea of a life outside the convent.

To gently steer Priya away from the nun’s life, Thomas turns to Deva, a hairstylist known for his skill at swaying women’s minds. Deva Vikram hesitates at first, but he agrees to help. He recruits his friend Guru, a blind, aspiring musician played by Mohan Raman, and together they befriend Priya and invite her to join their music troupe. Priya’s luminous singing catches the troupe’s attention, and soon they are invited to audition for a film. As the troupe grows in fame, Deva and Guru concoct schemes to nudge Priya toward falling in love with Thomas, while Deva himself begins to realize he is also falling for Priya.

The emotional stakes intensify as Priya and Deva’s bond deepens in parallel with Thomas’s growing affection. Priya’s feelings for Deva and Thomas’s declarations of love—made with Deva’s help—set up a painful test of loyalties. When Priya discovers the real reason behind Deva’s involvement, she feels betrayed and withdraws from the music troupe to return to the convent to begin her novitiate. She quits the Chennai scene, and Deva’s world is shaken by a serious accident that leaves him in a coma. The period of separation is long enough for Priya to complete her training, yet she cannot forget Deva.

Deva awakens from the coma, and Thomas—though initially angry—comes to understand that Deva and Priya belong together. In a pivotal moment, Thomas hurries to the convent on the day Priya is supposed to take her vows and, with the support of the Mother Superior, persuades her to choose love and marriage to Deva instead. The wedding binds Deva and Priya as lifelong partners, and Thomas, now a priest, baptizes their daughter, solidifying a family founded on forgiveness and commitment. Deva then tends to Amalraj Garments, managing his father-in-law’s business interests, while Priya pursues her passion as a full-time singer, bringing music and joy to their home and community.

The story threads together ambition, faith, and the transformative power of love. Guru, who has grown into a renowned music composer, navigates a high-profile career that faces plagiarism accusations, adding another layer of drama to Priya’s world and the troupe’s ascent. In the aftermath, James Thangadurai distributes his wealth in a broad gesture of redistribution, reshaping the community’s fortunes and highlighting the film’s themes of reconciliation and communal harmony. Through these intertwined lives, the movie paints a rich portrait of friendship, rivalry, and the redemptive force of choosing love and family over pride.
