What Is Merton of the Movies About?
The premise of Merton of the Movies without spoilers.
In 1915 Kansas theater usher Merton Gill, a zealous silent‑film fan, dupes Mammoth Studios by mimicking star Lawrence Rupert’s heroic stunts. The studio whisks him to Hollywood, promising publicity and a contract. Disillusioned, he roams casting offices, meets bit‑player and stuntwoman Phyllis Montague, and when he finally lands his “break,” the role is far from the starring part he imagined.
