In 2005, in the village of Kambalapally, Telangana, a young student named Ravi, Harshith Malgireddy, is portrayed as innocent and curious, deeply touched by the growing lure of computers in a place where the internet is still a novelty. With the village buzzing about this new technology, Hybath launches an internet centre, offering a doorway to a wider world. When Ravi cannot enroll in any formal computer course, he pleads with Hybath to teach him the basics, and Hybath reluctantly agrees, bound by a liquor deal that shades their bargain with a touch of risk. To fund his learning, Ravi borrows money from Shivanna, a local moneylender, and Hybath helps by creating a new e-mail account for him, opening a channel to a future he barely understands. At the same time, Ravi finds himself drawn to Roja, a classmate who seems to share his interest and, in time, his feelings begin to shift into something closer to romance. To repay the loan, Ravi borrows an anklet from Roja, a gesture that ties their budding connection to a debt he must somehow clear; he also entrusts Roja with his e-mail ID so she can contact him, and he checks that inbox daily for a sign of her reply.
Soon, a tempting but dangerous path unfolds. Ravi receives a fraudulent e-mail promising a lottery worth ₹2 crore, and the thrill of the possibility blinds him to the danger. He shares the news with Subbu, a friend who becomes complicit in the excitement. Then another e-mail lands, demanding him to send ₹1 lakh to process the lottery. On Subbu’s urging, Ravi plunges deeper, taking another loan from Shivanna and even mortgaging his father’s land to raise the funds. He travels to the town, wired with hope, and sends the demanded amount. Days pass with no sign of the prize, and the dream begins to crumble as the reality of the scam sinks in. When Hybath is informed about the lottery, he bluntly reveals that the whole thing is fake, leaving Ravi and Subbu stunned and anxious about the mounting debt.
In a bid to salvage the situation, Ravi and Subbu secretly seek help from a mutual friend who unfortunately misunderstands the scam for a real opportunity, repeatedly asking when the money would arrive. The tension escalates as Shivanna overhears the exchange and takes decisive action: he hurries to the last bus to try and seize the supposed winnings first. In a tense chase, he wrestles a bag from a lone passenger, escaping on his moped, while the village crowd closes in and gives chase. The bag is joltingly dropped into the bushes during the scramble, and the pursuit leaves everyone breathless.
The following morning, Ravi and Subbu return to Shivanna’s place to confess everything. Shivanna, misreading their intent as a confession about his failed theft, chooses not to press charges but instead offers a hard bargain: some money in addition to waiving the entire loan, on the condition that they never speak about the incident again. Desperate and hoping for a fresh start, the two agree. With the weight of debt eased and the promise of secrecy in place, Ravi uses the returned funds to purchase a new computer, a step that feels like a small victory in a story otherwise haunted by greed and misjudgment. Yet Shivanna’s search for the bag in the bushes reveals a final twist of fate: the bag has already disappeared, taken away by a shepherd, leaving behind a residue of what might have been and a cautionary tale about trust, haste, and the temptations of quick fortune.
