In a stark, unflinching thriller, John Lucker, a deeply disturbed killer who has brutalized eight women, falls into a coma after attempting to slit his own throat while being moved between mental institutions. He is placed in a private clinic where he rouses from his coma, murders an orderly, and steals the man’s clothes. Lucker then escapes the clinic, hijacks the orderly’s car, and leaves behind the girlfriend of the man he killed, continuing his violent drive as the morning news catches up with his escape.
