Kay is an abstract visual artist, portrayed by Sarah Kendall, whose childhood dreams have haunted her for years. The visions shift in frequency and content: some are just glimpses of desolate places that leave her with a creeping dread, while others reveal the brutal deaths of friends and loved ones at the hands of a supernatural force. Lately, the dreams have grown harsher and more persistent, nudging her art toward a new, unsettling intensity. To help her cope and protect her fragile sense of stability, Kay’s family and friends plan a vacation to a small island off the coast of Georgia, hoping the change of scene will steady her nerves. Accompanying Kay are her husband, David; Kay’s brother, Eric, who introduced her to David; and Eric’s wife, Brooke.
