Nikki Angioli Emma Roberts and Leo Campo Hayden Christensen grow up in Toronto’s Little Italy, where their families run a pair of neighboring pizzerias. After a pizza competition victory, a bitter feud develops between Nikki’s father Sal Angioli Adam Ferrara and Leo’s father Vince Campo Gary Basaraba, driving the two businesses to operate side by side but under a cloud of secrecy about the real reason behind the split. The rivalry shapes every decision the families make, and it shadows Nikki and Leo as they chase their own dreams.

Nikki Emma Roberts leaves Toronto to train as a chef in London, while Leo remains behind to work at his father’s restaurant in their tight-knit neighborhood. Years pass, and Nikki earns a chance to run a new restaurant under the guidance of her instructor Corrine Jane Seymour, who grants her two weeks to craft a standout menu and secure a Canadian work visa. Back in Toronto, Leo keeps the family flame burning, living with his friend Luigi Andrew Phung above Luigi’s bar, where he also bartends, and watching the feud between Sal and Vince continue to intensify.

When Nikki returns to the city, she runs into Leo at a bar, and a thunderstorm sparks a carefree, if reckless, game of soccer. The night ends with Nikki passing out at Leo’s place and waking up to a warm welcome from her family the next day. The morning after, Nikki is greeted by her mother Dora Angioli Alyssa Milano and her relatives, who worry about her future as she navigates the delicate balance between family loyalty and personal ambition. Meanwhile, Vince and Jogi Vas Saranga are briefly jailed after Sal and his Indian employee Jessie Amrit Kaur replace oregano in Vince’s restaurant with marijuana, a stunt that backfires but ends with their release. Jessie and Jogi share an unspoken attraction, adding a quiet undertone to the rivalry, even as strong feelings between families simmer beneath the surface.

Nikki and Leo grow closer while cooking together at Leo’s apartment, where she admires his creativity and skill. Carlo Campo Danny Aiello proposes to Franca Angioli Andrea Martin, but Franca remains cautious about remarrying after the loss of her husband, keeping their plans tentative. The mood shifts again when Nikki urges Leo to move his pizza concept out of Vince’s restaurant, arguing that a fresh menu could redefine the neighborhood’s dining scene; Leo, however, worries his father is too set in his ways and is determined to retire before a real change happens so he can pursue his dream of opening his own place.

Franca eventually agrees to marry Carlo, breaking with her personal vow not to remarry, which reshapes the family dynamics as Nikki and Leo take a night to roam Little Italy on a nostalgic trip. That evening, they sleep together, and the next day Corinne calls to remind Nikki that the menu must be ready soon or she’ll promote another chef. The pressure lands on Nikki, who confides her doubts to Leo about balancing love and ambition.

Franca and Carlo announce their engagement with a dinner that will also reveal their relationship, but the families’ pride and long-standing grudges flare into insults. To settle the score, Vince suggests a pizza contest against Sal, with the loser leaving Little Italy forever. Although the idea becomes a joint venture for Nikki and Leo to represent their fathers, Nikki initially resists, and Vince needles her about facing Leo. The tension bubbles up again when Leo accuses Nikki of letting him win as kids, leading to a sharp argument.

At the competition, Leo claims victory but refuses the trophy once he discovers Nikki had subtly swapped their sauces to give him the win. Realizing Nikki has headed for the airport to London, Leo and both families race to catch her. On arriving, Leo proclaims that all he wants is Nikki, confessing his love, and she, after a tense moment, reciprocates. They confront their fathers and reveal that the feud was really a clash over their parents Franca and Carlo, dating back to a disagreement after a 1999 pizza contest about naming the winning pizza.

Franca and Carlo publicly announce their engagement, and the families begin to heal. Some time later, Nikki and Leo inaugurate their own restaurant with the support of their families. Corinne returns from London, having closed her own restaurant due to negative reviews, but the closing note of the tale is a note of unity: the families celebrate together, and Nikki and Leo help Jessie Amrit Kaur and Jogi Vas Saranga in finding their own path toward happiness, closing the long chapter of rivalries and opening a future built on collaboration and love.
