In a small French town identified as “anywhere,” anonymous poison-pen letters begin to arrive, signed by a mysterious figment calling himself Le Corbeau (the Raven). The very first missives target Dr. Rémy Germain, accusing him of having an affair with Laura Vorzet, the pretty young wife of the elderly psychiatrist Dr. Vorzet. The letters also allege that Germain has been involved in illegal abortions. From the moment the Raven’s notes land, they travel through nearly every household, yet somehow keep circling back to Germain, turning private rumors into a town-wide crisis and turning trust into a fragile, fragile thing.
