After Jim Conway, a rubber‑plantation foreman in South America, receives a telegram that his betrothed, Laura, cannot follow him and has married another, he is stranded. At a waterfront café he meets fugitive singer Joan Madison, confides his plight, and persuades her to pose as Laura and marry him so she can join him on the plantation.
